Sevacare Launches Take Action Campaign
Date of article: 04-Jul-11
Sevacare has recently launched a new campaign to encourage staff and members of the public to ‘take action’ on anything they would consider to be a form of abuse. Sevacare is dedicated to the protection of vulnerable people and already invests heavily in training staff on the importance of the subject and regularly communicates through Company policies and procedures. The new campaign will further enhance Sevacare’s commitment and promise to the people, for which it cares, and will continually remind people to be aware of the types of abuse to which vulnerable people may be subject.
Speaking about the new campaign, Sevacare’s Chairman, Ravi Bains, said “The importance of this area was again brought to my attention after watching the shocking and truly disturbing images displayed on the BBC Panorama Documentary, Undercover Care: The Abuse Exposed. The abuse of vulnerable people is a very sad reality. Sevacare does not tolerate any form of abuse. It is our legal and social responsibility to protect vulnerable people and it is our moral obligation to report any incidents. In addition to our policies and procedures we have launched a dedicated email address: takeaction@sevacare.org.uk and telephone number: 0800 285 1991 for anyone who suspects abuse may be occurring. As part of our new campaign, I urge everyone to take action on any incidents they consider to be a form of abuse.”
To launch the new campaign, Sevacare has disseminated an information leaflet to all 2,300 staff members, in addition to large posters in all 29 branches and an article in the quarterly newsletter, Sevacare Voice.
