People in Suffolk are invited to get involved in the county’s biggest wellbeing campaign as registration for the third annual Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month is launched.
Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month takes place in October and comprises a series of events held by organisations and members of the public all aimed at promoting mental health awareness in Suffolk.
Anyone can register an event for Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SHAWM12.
Last year there were over 30 events registered ranging from free Zumba, yoga and singing sessions, to stress busting workshops and reminiscence road shows.
The focus of this year’s campaign is depression to tie in with the theme for World Mental Health Day, which takes place on 10 October.
The campaign is coordinated by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Suffolk Libraries and The Mind Sanctuary to break down mental health stigma and promote services available in the county.
Maggie Wheeler, chair of Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust, said: “The stigma that often surrounds mental health can stop people from asking for help when they need it most.
"Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month is a chance for the Trust and other mental health organisations to show people just how much help there is available and that talking about mental health doesn’t need to be scary!”
Everyone who registers an event will be included on the Suffolk Health and Wellbeing Month calendar at www.themindsanctuary.com and will have access to support to help promote the event.
