Job Title: Responsible Individual / Finance Director
Delan founded Care in Hand with wife and business partner, Sheena, over ten years ago. Born in Epsom, he was raised in Pembrokeshire by his parents, both qualified nurses, who moved to the area in 1986 to set up a specialist nursing home. Having left to study a BA Honours degree in Business and Finance at Buckinghamshire University, Delan later moved back to the area in 2004 to establish Care in Hand.
Today, Delan continues to have a hands-on role in the day to day management of the business. Delan lives with his wife and four young daughters in the nearby village of Narberth.
Job Title: Director of Quality Assurance & Business Planning
Sheena, who co-founded Care in Hand with her husband and business partner, Delan Umanee, is originally from Kilkenny, Ireland, but moved to Pembrokeshire in 2004 to help establish the business. She holds a BSc Honours degree in Psychology and an NVQ 4 in Health Care Management and has spent more than 11 years working as a qualified nurse, specialising in intensive care training.
Sheena is fully involved in the day to day running of the business and is entirely responsible for managing the quality assurance policies for staff, development and training, as well as for Care in Hand’s service as a whole. A mother of four, Sheena is passionate about caring for people and is committed to ensuring the best level of care is offered to all clients.
Job Title: Registered Manager of Narberth Team
Marc has lived in Pembrokeshire all his life and lives in Pembroke Dock with his wife and 2 children.
Marc began work supporting young people in education who were experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties whilst on a gap year from university in 1998. Marc enjoyed the experience so much that upon leaving university the natural progression was to again work with young people in similar circumstances. Marc worked in various roles including learning support assistant, behaviour support worker and summer school coordinator until 2005 when he moved into the private sector to begin work with adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. In the next few years, Marc has worked for local and national organisations in various roles including Team Leader, Support Team Manager, Trainer and Registered Manager with a special interest in autism support and challenging behaviour.
Marc has recently been studying for a QCF level 5 in care management.
It is my passion to ensure that people are supported in a person centred way ensuring that their independence and individuality is respected at all times.

Julia joined Care in Hand in early 2013 bringing with her proven communication skills and extensive managerial experience in the care sector. Working extremely well as part of a team, Julia also likes to take the initiative to ensure that the administrative requirements of the business and CSSIW are successfully met.
At the beginning of her working career, Julia developed her client communication skills when working for an estate agency and then an insurance company. Julia then spent 20 years as a CSSIW Registered Manager looking after a Nursing Home in Tenby. Her responsibilities were widespread ranging from staff appraisals to working with the Registered Nurse to ensure that all patient care plans and record keeping met CSSIW requirements.
Julia has a Management (Level 4) Diploma and also holds Office Practice and Touch Typing qualifications.
Job Title: Acting Registered Manager of Pembroke Team
Amanda joined Care in Hand in July 2013 after gaining a joint honours degree in Social Inclusion and Educational Studies. She has also completed a special needs pathway qualification. Initially working as a Community Carer, Amanda quickly got to meet many different clients and was exceptionally good at adapting to new and varied situations.
She progressed to a Call Monitor role where her good organisational skills and ability to remain calm and focused when faced with difficult situations proved invaluable. It was this recognition that carried her even further and now sees her in a managers role.
Job Title: Senior Finance Assistant
Nicola has over 12 years experience in the care sector and has cared for children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) as well as adults with mental health problems and learning difficulties.
She acted as an Assistant Manager of a privately run residential home for two years before moving into healthcare administration. After six years in the NHS, she relocated to Pembrokeshire and began her role at Care in Hand.
Nicola holds NVQ Level 3 qualifications in Promoting Independence and in Business and Administration and is currently working towards a QCF Level 5 Diploma in HR management. She is responsible for the administration and general organisation of the firm’s Employee Relations and Training departments.
