Last Friday, 25th November my mother was found by a care visitor, around 9pm. My mother had been sitting in one position for the last twelve hours and was suffering from a urinary infection. The care worker called an ambulance and my mother was taken to hospital. My point is this, the care worker should have noticed that she was unwell that morning, and not left her there till late in the evening.
They usually only stay in the flat about three minutes at most, and on one recent occasion, the care worker did not know that she was to give medication and sign the book, giving time of visits. The staff seem to change almost on a daily basis, resulting in a stream of strangers who neither know my mother nor have any time to spend with her ensuring her medication has been taken. I appreciate that an ambulance was finally called, but feel that there is lack of any kind of continuity of care. Is there a minimum time care workers are supposed to spend with a client?
