The Review Score of 9.2 out of 10 for Thames Care is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Home Care Provider / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Home Care Provider receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.548 for Thames Care is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 42 Ratings = 4.548

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this care provider to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3.00 points for the first Positive Review, 2 points in total for each of the next 9 Positive Reviews (1st = 3.00, 2nd = 0.50, 3rd = 0.50, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.10, 7th = 0.10, 8th = 0.10, 9th = 0.10, 10th = 0.10) ie an Home Care Provider needs 10 Reviews to receive the maximum score of 5 points.

If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 24 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 48 months. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Thames Care is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3.00 + 0.50 + 0.50 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.10 + 0.10 = 4.7

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.2Thames Care has a Review Score of 9.2 (9.248) out of 10 and an Average Rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews over all time

The carers are always polite, pleasant and always ready to respond to any requests. They wear gloves and protective aprons, which they change, if need be, in order to perform a certain task such as applying cream to the legs. The carers arrive punctually and always greet me cheerfully. The idea of having
a designated carer is excellent as it gives a heightened sense of security and the knowledge that the care given will be exactly to ones liking.

Really pleased with the care given. Dad lost speech and mobility due to a stroke a year ago. The carers are really good at communicating with him, explaining what they are doing and including him in their conversations. They try to follow his wishes. They are gentle and mindful of his dignity. They
are also very supportive of the family. The only slight issue we have had recently is ensuring we have consistent timings of visits of carers - the office team are working to improve this for us.

With over 18 Years of experience I have been able to bring my knowledge and experience to Thames Care and have a great input whilst working alongside the Registered Manager. I believe it is important to provide good quality care to our clients, not only does this offer reassurance to them but also to their families in knowing that their loved ones are being looked after safely.

My role as Care Manager, involves me meeting potential new clients in their homes or hospital settings and to assist them to be actively involved when setting up a new care package to suit their needs and wishes, allowing them to remain in their own homes whilst maintaining their independence. I closely monitor all care provided to ensure the needs are met and I actively participate in the provision of care in the client’s own home and am always looking for opportunities to improve the service that we provide.

“My introduction to care came in 1998 through an opportunity to work in a nursing home and I subsequently moved into the domiciliary care field. I worked for the same domiciliary care company from 2001 until 2013 gradually working my way to becoming a Recruitment and Training Manager.

An opportunity came to try pastures new and decided that this was the right time for me to make a move. I have been working for Thames Care since this time in the capacity of Training and Development Manager. Since my first day at Thames Care, I have been made to feel welcome and part of the friendly dedicated team of staff. Working with a diverse care staff that has different experiences from me, listening to and sharing our experiences is a very enjoyable part of my job. “

I have worked in the care industry since 2009, I completed a certificate in care skills which was my introduction to the industry. I briefly worked in a care home but found myself better suited to domiciliary care. I thoroughly enjoy working within the care industry and love meeting new people. I am currently doing my QCF Level 5 in Health and Social care. I have been with Thames Care since October 2016 and have been made to feel very welcome. I’m very happy working with such a positive and professional team of people.“
