My mother is very lucky to be cared for by essential health. She is treated with respect and dignity and is always happy to see them, which says a lot when your mother has advanced Alzheimers. They give her time to communicate and have patience with her needs. The management try hard to keep the team consistent which is very important to me and my mum. I would definitely recommend these to family and friends.

The agency was recommended by a friend when my husband needed extra care after he came out of hospital. We are very satisfied with the professionalism especially during this difficult time of covid 19. The staff treats my husband with great dignity, humour and encouragement.

Lovely, friendly staff who have immediately bonded with my daughter. She looks forward to them coming each day, which makes me feel reassured that she's absolutely fine as I leave each day for work. Would happily recommend the agency to other people without hesitation.

Essential Health comes into our home and treated my father with such respect and compassion. The carers came four times a day and soon became like family. The care given was amazing. Dad was treated with such dignity and the care received on his last day will be in my heart forever. It was not easy having to accept help from "outsiders" but it soon became clear that Essential Health is a superb service and without them, Dad's life would not have been as comfortable as it was.

Essential health has been professional, caring and accommodating to mum-in-laws needs and wishes. She has a great relationship with her carers who know her well and have remained with her continually. This has allowed us to keep her at home as she wishes but given us peace of mind that she is exceptionally well cared for. Any concerns are dealt with swiftly and efficiently with regard to her health. We, as a family are grateful for the care and reassurance that Essential Health gives us and would recommend them to everybody.

Mum's carers treat her as if she was actually a member of their own family. At all times she is cared for with respect and sympathy. The carers go above and beyond what we as a family were expecting, they are such lovely people. We feel very lucky to have them care for mum.

I am very pleased with the care and support given to my mum. Mum is registered blind and requires support with everyday living, including personal care, meal preparation, administration of prescribed medication. Despite her problems, she remains a very sociable person who likes to chat and have a laugh, and her carers to date have been outstanding in meeting her needs.

On the whole, staff are very pleasant and appear to be well trained.

At present, there seems to be a high staff turnover which makes for lack of consistency in carers who attend. The staff that do attend are pleasant and friendly. There are a few niggles but these are only minor and tend to stem from personal preferences.

Beverley Blakeman Job Title: Director / Registered Care Manager Joined: 2023
Beverley Blakeman

Hi, my name is Bev, I am the registered manager of Essential Health, and it is an honour to be so. I have too many years of experience to mention within the Health and Social care sector, but I would like to say that I am very proud of the united team we are. We all agree that our working ethos is to provide a service of bespoke care with passion, dignity, inclusion and respect.

I enjoy frequenting my caravan in Wales and exploring the stunning surroundings with my Husband. I am partial to a meal out with my friends and having a catch-up. I currently have 3 dogs who I love dearly. They are a mixed bunch consisting of a large Labrador, a medium Springer Spaniel and a miniature dachshund who all keep me on my toes. I enjoy most music; however, my favourite is Motown and Northern Soul. I have one son whom I am very proud of and who appears to be thriving in this world.

Paula Cheney Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager Joined: 2023
Paula Cheney
Hello, my name is Paula, and I have been in the care sector for over 13 years. And I have found it a very privileged and rewarding role to support people in their own homes. I started as a care assistant and worked my way up to supervisor, then quality assurance manager; I have recently completed my Level 5 in Health and Social Care. I work with an amazing team of care assistants and office staff.

In my spare time, I like to read, listen to music, and go to concerts. I also look after three dogs when their owners go away.

Jason Halket Job Title: Liaison Manager Joined: 2023
Jason Halket

Hi, I’m Jason, the Liaison Manager at Essential Health. I spent 8 years working in Care in Stoke on Trent before I had the privilege of joining the management team alongside Bev and Paula. I am passionate about supporting our Team, which means that they can passionately support our clients. I believe we nurture the very best qualities through our whole team, and I am immensely proud to work with all the people I work with.

I love to read in my quiet time, Science Fiction and also History, especially the history of Stoke. I live with my wife, and we enjoy cooking together and planning our holidays. I have 4 grown-up children, a passion for collecting mechanical watches, strong coffee, and bacon & cheese oatcakes. My dream would be to take an around-the-world cruise. The best part of my job is listening to the stories that our amazing clients tell us; it's living history.

Lucy Barlow Job Title: Content Creator/Admin Joined: 2024
Lucy Barlow

Hi, my name is Lucy, and I joined the Essential Health team in October 2024 to pursue my dream of working in content creation. As a Content Creator in the homecare field, my job is to capture and communicate the genuine heart that defines our service. I spend my days gathering stories, creating helpful resources, and creating content that reflects our core values. I get my motivation from the people I work alongside. Witnessing the daily dedication of our entire team is utterly amazing.

Outside of work, I follow my football team home and away with my Dad, and I’m a big lover of music and concerts that I attend with my Mum. I also love my car and driving to explore new places with my best friend. In addition to that, I love to travel and experience new places across the world.
