Job Setting: Clients Home

Job Role: Befriender / Companion

Date Posted: 05 May 2018

Job Location: Royston , Hertfordshire

Salary: £9.00 to £9.50 per hour

Hours: Part Time

Contact Name: Gloria Rogers

You may not have done it before but you like the idea of being a companion or friend to an elderly person in your local community. You live somewhere local to Stevenage, Royston, Baldock, Hitchin, Letchworth, Knebworth or the surrounding villages.  You want to make a difference in someone's life and would like to feel proud doing something worthwhile.  It would be great to help someone stay in their own Home Instead of them having to go into a care home.

You would not want to do things in a rush and you would want to spend at least an hour of quality time each visit to really get to know the person you support by being their dedicated companion.  You are gentle, can read faces and love a good chat. You are very much a ‘can-do’, positive, practical person and are good at thinking of ways to solve life's little problems. You'd really like to do something on a part-time basis and have got good flexibility to be there during the busy times.

Typically these are;  early mornings/mornings to help prepare breakfast and support with morning routines.

Evenings – to help prepare meals and assist with bedtime routines.

Weekends as well,  but not every weekend and often just for an hour or two.  Being a driver is essential, as many of our clients are largely independent and mobile and will often look for support to do their errands and appointments in the local community.

You want to work with and alongside people that treat you with respect and are grateful for the compassionate, sensitive and selfless qualities that you have. You are looking for a part-time job that is calm, professional, organised warm and friendly. You'd like advice, support and professionally recognised training to help you to be confident in your role.

You'd like to be paid more than the living wage and are happy to gradually build up your hours by being introduced to clients one at a time who you would have something in common with.

Well hey! if that sounds about right, lucky you!  Because that’s what we do. Hi! we are Home Instead and are a very different company.  Just give us a call and find out why;  our CAREGivers say “it's like being a paid volunteer”, or “it’s not like work”, or why we have been rated an outstandingly caring company by the industry watchdog and why we have been awarded the Queens Award for what we do.  Go on, pick up the phone - it could be your very first step in a new, positive life-changing journey.
