“I looked after a relative for a while and I realised how caring for others came so naturally to me and how good it made me feel. Once my care responsibility ended, I looked into how I could use my experience and start a career in care. I approached Bluebird Care Sunderland as they supported my neighbour. My neighbour spoke very highly of the company and the care assistant that supported her. After a lengthy chat with the office, I decided to apply for a Care Assistant position. I was very nervous at the interview but I was put at ease straight away. I was over the moon when I received my job offer and I knew this was the start of something very special. I started my journey with all of the right training and support which is on-going until this day. The role is hard but very very fulfilling. It makes me feel so happy because I know I make a difference to someone’s life. I feel valued and supported in my role and I love being part of a caring team. I have successfully completed my NVQ L2 in Health & Social Care and I am part way through my Level 3. Not only that, I am busy filling my application form in for a more senior position within the company”.
