Liz was so impressed she bought the company
A new company specialising in providing high quality care for older people in their own homes, has opened in Brighton. Home Instead Senior Care is owned by Liz Brackley, who is looking to create 50 new jobs caring for clients across Brighton and Hove, Shoreham, Kemptown, Patcham North, Portslade and surrounding areas.
Liz, is married with two daughters and lives in Hurstpierpoint, she came across Home Instead when she needed support caring for her parents when they lived in Buckinghamshire, she explains, “My parents didn’t live locally and they needed extra help at home with preparing lunch and shopping. At the time I didn’t realise just what a great company Home Instead was, I just thought we were really lucky to have such a good carer!"
She continued, “My parents have since moved locally which has enabled me take on a more active caring role. I understand how difficult it can be combining work, life and caring commitments, and finding good care and support can be a struggle, especially when you find yourself in a crisis situation with your elderly loved ones.”
Liz has had a successful career working for various large service organisations and has extensive experience in marketing, operations, policy and procedures, planning and training. Most recently she held senior roles with Virgin Atlantic Airways and the Financial Ombudsman Service. She had however always wanted to run her own business in Brighton, where she studied for her degree and lived for many years, and Home instead provided the perfect opportunity.
She added, “With both my professional and personal caring experience, I knew that I would be able to bring Home Instead to my local community. We don’t do short duration calls; they are a minimum of one hour, at a set time and with the same caregiver. I wanted to set up a business where I could make a significant difference, providing the best quality home care for older people and a great place to work for our caregivers.”
Home Instead match their caregivers to their clients which ensures trusting and rewarding relationships and Liz is keen to talk to like-minded individuals who are kind and compassionate and who may be interested in joining the company. No previous care experience is required, just a belief that older people deserve quality support at home to enable them to live independently for as long as possible.
Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from a minimum of 1 hour to many more, seven days a week.
