Dear Nick, I am very sorry that you felt this way, and understand the difficulty in seeing your loved ones deteriorate, knowing there is nothing that can be done at this stage. All care and medical organisations have to follow the Mental Capacity Act. Although your father is unwell, he has full mental capacity and one of the pillars of this is that people have the "Ability to make unwise decisions". As you can tell by the CCTV recordings, we tried to persuade and prompt your father to make different decisions, but we cannot force someone to do something that they do not want to do. The carers really did try their hardest with your father, in what were very challenging circumstances, and I hope that in time you can appreciate this. We sincerely hope that your father and the rest of your family are able to find some comfort at this difficult time.
