Purpose of the Role
To assist the Registered Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the healthcare group, ensuring compliance with Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA) standards, statutory duties, performance targets and quality improvement measures. The Deputy Manager will act as the Registered Manager's representative in their absence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Regulatory and Compliance Responsibilities:
• Covering for the Manager: Taking charge in the absence of the Registered Manager, ensuring continuity of care and operations.
• Ensure compliance with RQIA regulations, Health and Personal Social Services (Quality, Improvement, and Regulation) Order 2003, and other relevant legislative requirements.
• Maintain and update policies and procedures in line with regulatory changes.
• Ensure care services meet quality and safety standards.
• Ensure RQIA reports are completed and available upon request.
• Ensure that all nurses are registered with NMC, that they abide by the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and obtain evidence that professional registration requirements are met and maintained on an ongoing basis.
• Ensure all carers are registered with NISCC and adhere to set standards.
2. Operational Management:
• Monitor and evaluate care delivered and implement improvements.
• Ensure effective rostering and coordination of care staff to meet service user needs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with service users, Trust representatives, families, staff, and external stakeholders.
• Conducting assessments, care planning often in collaboration with healthcare professionals and evaluation of care.
• Client and Stakeholder Relations: Acting as a point of contact for clients, families, and external stakeholders, addressing concerns and fostering positive relationships.
• Prompt communication/responses to service user requests/queries.
• Complaints/safeguarding issues handling.
• Maintaining upto date and accurate records
• Assist with responding to tenders and submitting to NHS Trusts
• Ensuring seamless Agency Worker registration including AccessNI and checking pre-employment documentation
• Assist with setting competitive contract rates
• Conducting interviews
• Matching Agency Workers to suitable roles/Clients;
• Responding to Agency Workers queries/complaints/grievances
3. Leadership and Staff Management:
• Recruitment and selection of staff, formulate training and induction needs.
• Conduct supervision, performance appraisals and ensure continuous professional development.
• Ensure staff compliance with mandatory training, supervision, and safeguarding procedures.
• Foster a positive and supportive working environment.
4. Person-Centred Care Delivery:
• Ensure that care plans are developed, reviewed, and implemented effectively.
• Ensure the provision of culturally appropriate and inclusive care services.
5. Business Development and Growth:
• Work towards the growth and sustainability of the care group.
• Develop partnerships with local health and social care trusts, commissioners, and other relevant bodies.
• Identify opportunities for service expansion and improvement; seeking and securing contracts with Nursing Homes, Care Homes, Residential Care Homes, Supported Living, Hospitals, etc
Essential Criteria:
1. Qualifications:
• Live NMC registration
• Recognised Management Qualification
• Full registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC)
• Clear Enhanced AccessNI check
2. Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a managerial role in a healthcare setting.
• Strong knowledge of RQIA regulations and compliance requirements.
3. Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk management.
• Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in using care management software and Microsoft Office applications.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Handling of emails
