Job summary
1. Monitoring and Supervision

Stay awake for the entire shift to ensure individuals are safe.

Carry out regular welfare checks (e.g., hourly or as required).

Monitor sleep patterns, behaviours, and nighttime risks.
2. Personal Care Support
-
Assist with toileting, continence care, repositioning, and hygiene needs.
-
Support individuals who wake during the night feeling distressed, confused, or anxious.
3. Medication and Health
-
Administer or prompt medication in line with care plans (if trained/authorised).

Monitor health concerns, seizures, or medical conditions.
4. Record Keeping

Complete accurate nightly logs, incident reports, and handover notes.

Record sleep charts and observations.
5. Household Tasks
-
Light cleaning, laundry, and preparing the environment for the next day.

Ensure the setting remains safe and tidy.
6. Emergency Response
-
Respond quickly to alarms, falls, illness, or other emergencies.

Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.
7. Emotional Support

Offer reassurance to individuals who may be distressed or struggling to sleep.

Maintain a calm, reassuring presence throughout the night.
Skills / Qualifications:
- Training Requirement: Learning Disabilities (Minimum One Year) Staff working in this role must have at least one year of training or experience in supporting individuals with learning disabilities. This includes: Understanding different types of learning disabilities Training in communication methods (e.g.
