Job summary

Job Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to provide high-quality care and assistance to a elderly service user his wonderful family home in Newbury. The role involves supporting the service user with dementia, Parkinson's and Urethral catheter care.

Previous experience in senior care, dementia or Alzheimer's care, hospice support, or will be advantageous. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through personalised care and support. You would be working 8am to 8pm Monday to Sunday and night shifts are also available from 8pm to 8am Monday to Sunday.

Duties

  • Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility
  • Provide specialised care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's, or other cognitive impairments
  • Support with medication administration following prescribed guidelines
  • Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements
  • Manage behaviour effectively through compassionate behaviour management techniques
  • Offer emotional support and companionship to clients of all ages
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Drive clients to appointments or activities when necessary, ensuring safe transportation
  • Catheter Care
  • Administer first aid in emergency situations and follow health and safety protocols
  • Support families and carers by providing guidance on care routines and needs

Requirements

  • Experience in assisted living or home care is desirable
  • Knowledge of patient care procedures including medication administration and first aid
  • Familiarity with dementia, Alzheimer's, hospice, and senior care practices
  • Ability to handle heavy lifting safely when required
  • Valid driving licence for transportation duties
  • Compassionate nature with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and professionalism
  • Flexibility to work shifts that may include evenings or weekends if needed
  • Relevant qualifications in caregiving or health & social care are advantageous but not essential
