Last month was a busy one with our CQC inspection and we’re proud to share that we maintained our GOOD rating across the board! A huge thank you to our hardworking team for your dedication, our clients and their families for sharing your experiences and our stake holders for your unwavering support. Well done!
We’re also excited to welcome two new staff members to Lovehands Care family. As always please give them a warm welcome and support them as they settle into their new roles.
Policy of the Month: Duty of Candour
Understanding Our Responsibility to Be Honest and Open This month, we’re focusing on the Duty of Candour, we believe it is a vital policy that reinforces the importance of honesty, transparency, and accountability in health and social care. What Is the Duty of Candour? The Duty of Candour is a legal obligation for health and social care providers in the UK. It requires organisations and their staff to be open and honest with people when something goes wrong with their care or treatment, especially if it has caused harm or has the potential to do so. This duty applies to all levels of care, whether the incident is minor or severe. It is rooted in promoting trust, respect, and learning within the care system.
Key Principles • Openness: Clearly and truthfully explain what happened. • Apology: Provide a genuine and timely apology. • Support: Offer emotional and practical support to the person affected. • Learning: Review the incident, take accountability, and implement changes to prevent recurrence.
Why It Matters to us at Lovehands Care We believe that The Duty of Candour is more than a legal requirement, it is about doing the right thing. By being transparent when things go wrong, we maintain trust between staff, clients and their families. We evidence the good quality and safety of our service and promote a positive, open organisational culture.
Let’s continue to build a culture of honesty, learning, and safety. The Duty of Candour helps us protect those we care for and each other.
