This carer has had her colleagues question the length of time it takes her to write her visit notes. She writes war and peace they say. Well Leo Tolstoy wrote that book in 1885 and we still refer to it now, so I guess he was on to something. Perhaps we will not need to keep records for quite so long however the importance of detailed notes and quality documentation is vital to delivering the finest care. For example, they help to spot issues that may be occurring with a client or help to identify when something is going wrong. Care workers notes could one day be used as evidence in a court of law and can be scrutinised by the CQC. In most cases however they are used to help families feel confident that their loved ones are in safe hands. In any event excellent communication is linked to outstanding care.
