Personal Assist South Yorkshire provides quality care and support to adults and children living with physical and learning disabilities, neurodiversity and mental health challenges.

Established in 2017, they provide care and support services throughout Rotherham, Barnsley, Sheffield and Doncaster.

They work with individuals who wish to be remain independent in the comfort of their own home and who want control to live their life, the way they want. They are able to provide flexible person centred support, from few hours support to complex 24/7 around the clock care to support you to stay independent at home.

Personal Assist also provide specialist 24/7 care and support within their residential care homes located in South Yorkshire, to young adults who have complex physical care needs and mental health and behaviour difficulties.

The support they provide:

Personal Assist provide complex care support and their staff are trained to provide support in personal care, medication, PEG, epilepsy care and the administration of buccal midazolam. Their staff are also trained to delivery positive behaviour support.

They provide respite care which can include days, sleeping or waking nights within your own home and offers an alternative to residential care.

Personal Assist provide specialist care to young adults within their residential care homes and provide solo or shared accommodation. They are able to offer 1-1 or 2-1 support where required.

They are able to work with a number of different funding options such as direct payments, self funded and NHS funded.

Registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commision and rated 'Good' (March 2023).

I did a review in March and this service has improved tremendously. I'm pretty sure with all the plans they have ahead that they will make it to 5 stars. My care package has been tailored to my needs. I get consistency with carers and I get to choose who is best for me. I get reassurance from the office
anytime and they always have time to listen to me. The new management team is amazing. There's a few what I'm hoping are teething problems (which is why I can't rate it 5 stars yet) but management and care staff are working with me to resolve problems. Big plans for the future
Three carers in particular go above and beyond for me. So do two staff members in particular from management. Two other specific staff members are lovely. They don't accept people on visas for sponsorship only on a part time basis (20 hours a week) which is a disappointment to me personally as If I get a bigger care package there isn't a possibility for me to have my regular staff who are amazing with me more. This company team works

My sister, brother and I are extremely grateful for all the care, kindness and reliable service you have given Dad over the past year.
We really valued the hour a day you were able to accommodate for him and I know he was always pleased to see you all.
I know you were all able to have a good chat
to him which, as well as making sure he was okay, also gave some interest and company to any days when family weren't able to be there.
Thank you also for the times when he needed emergency assistance and staying with him until it arrived.
With your support Dad managed to live alone and in his own home for much longer than we had envisaged.
This meant a lot to him and to us.

She seems to be happier with current management team rather than old one.doesn't get her rota much in advance this makes it hard for us to make plans together.doesn't get choice about days or times of calls which also makes meeting up hard and she doesn't get given options of regular carers availability.She
getting certain level of consistency by having regular carers she's happy with on her longer calls but not on her short ones.Has a key worker but needs regular key worker appointments.carers I've met have been friendly and supportive.She hasn't always been made aware of changes or lateness.Me ora friend have had to support her to tell her that a carer is late and that she should ring the office to find out what's happening.Carers should stay full time even if they're late but they don't always.Due to client being on a time schedule she can't afford for carers to arrive early and then expect to leave early.This sometimes happens and causes a meltdown for the client and mess plans up

I'm really pleased with the service personal assistance given to my Grandparents. It has given them a new lease of life they have weekly trips to Crystal Peaks and Meadowhall and on other days get their tea cooked and help around the house with cleaning ironing, changing bedding etc.

My husband is very happy with the carers he has and they are all extremely kind and caring. They often stay over the time they should and stayed with us for serveral hours to wait for an ambulance. We are very happy with the service.

This company has been caring for my Mum for some time now and the service and care they give is exceptional. My Mum loves all the carers and they really look after her. Both my sister and I live away and it is such a comfort to know she is being looked after so well. Mum recently came out of the hospital
and on arrival, her house phone was not working. The carer stayed beyond her allotted time until she had the phone working and kept me updated. I couldn’t wish for a better service and I would highly recommend this company. They have been lifesavers for my Mum and me, especially through the pandemic. Great Company and great service.

This company is appalling. They make things up as they go along, do not follow their own policies and procedures. Do not follow care plans. Do not have enough staff, cancel 45 minutes before arrival and the office staff do not care about what they do to their service users. Change your appointment times
whenever they feel like it and don't let you know. Leaving you with a very distressed little girl. They should be shut down, I am now owed 48 hours of cancelled visits which you can't ever use.

We can only apologise for any inconvenience caused, however we would never want to send staff experiencing Covid symptoms to anyone who uses our service. In regards to changing the times of appointments, we worked extremely hard to work to your requirements and changed the times based on your preferences, in some cases with as little as 24 hours notice, as we always aim to be flexible. I am unaware of any changes to times that were not requested by yourself. We tried several times to call and email you to try and resolve the above issue, however you refused to speak with us and hung up the phone. Our care team and management team have worked relentlessly throughout the pandemic and have supported yourself and many other families during this time. It’s a shame you are unsatisfied and we would have loved to have offered a solution had you given us the opportunity. We wish you all the best for the future.

We have used the service for about 10 weeks now and are very happy with the staff and the service they are providing. Several changes have been made to the service since the start and all have been implemented easily. The service is flexible so that given a little notice visits are easily arranged and

My mum seems very pleased with the service she is receiving and speaks very highly of her carer. I personally am very pleased with the service my mum is receiving and feel it will be a great asset for the future as she finds household chores and getting about more difficult. As well as getting help
with things she now finds difficult to do she enjoys the contact with her carer.
I am also confident that any concerns I have, as I live quite a distance away, will be dealt with professionally.

The care and support provided by Personal Assist for night sits was 1st class. The ladies were absolutely brilliant, arriving early before their due time, very friendly, but also very professional, they continually monitored and logged how my brother was throughout the night, talked to him, let us know
immediately if there were any problems (which I had asked them to do). Also excellent Office/Management team. I would have no hesitation in asking for their help if needed again.

Excellent in every way. Provided first class support checking our needs and exactly what we wanted doing. Attended for the full time and really got on with my mum in law and put her at ease, whilst ensuring the tasks got done. Really friendly, putting my mum in law and our family first, always willing
to go the extra mile and be flexible when needed. All this at short notice. They had a minimum booking of 45 minutes, but this can include travelling time.

I have been very pleased with the service that my father has received from this care company. The owner did a good first introductory interview of my father with myself present. They have tried to match him with a suitable carer and the owner has often attended to check that the arrangements are suitable.
They are kind and considerate as well as being empathetic to his needs. Also, they have been willing to accept additional responsibilities such as checking my father's catheter, alerting me to any problems and, recently, staying with and attending to him until an ambulance arrived. They have excellent communication skills and respond well to any concerns. We are quite satisfied with the charges and billing.
