Job summary

Doris Jones is looking for Senior Care Assistants to join our dedicated community team in Southend-on-Sea, Essex and the surrounding areas, covering Southend, Shoebury, Leigh-on-Sea, Benfleet, and everywhere in between - on a permanent basis.

Shifts available between 7am–1pm and 4pm–10pm, Monday to Sunday, ideally including two weekends per month.

We are particularly looking for applicants that can commit to working 30 hours per week.

About the role:
As a Care Assistant, you’ll make a real difference to people’s lives every day. You’ll support individuals with daily tasks, promote independence, and offer meaningful companionship – always maintaining dignity, privacy and respect. Whether working solo or as part of a pair, you’ll report directly to a Care Supervisor and be a key part of our close-knit team.

As a Senior with greater skills and experience, you'll be expected to take on other responsibilities. These may include helping in the review and updating of care plans, supporting new starters as they learn the ropes, and providing cover in the event of staff sickness or absence.

It is essential for this role that you hold a driving licence and access to a car for work, as well as willingness to undertake enhanced DBS check.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Supporting with personal care, preparing meals, and assisting with medication
  • Providing emotional support and friendly companionship
  • Working with healthcare professionals to review and deliver individualised care plans
  • Keeping clear, accurate records and sharing important updates with the care team
  • Encouraging clients to take part in social and therapeutic activities
  • Supporting and encouraging junior members of the care team

About you:
You will be compassionate, dependable individual who truly wants to make a difference. You’ll be a great communicator with a positive mindset and the ability to adapt to clients’ changing needs.
