Job summary

Home Instead Reigate and Tandridge 

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Live-In Caregivers to provide high-quality support and assistance to individuals in need of care. The ideal candidate will have experience in various care settings, including assisted living, nursing homes, and home care. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and all aspects of live-in person-centered care. 

  • Assist with mobility and transfers to ensure safety and comfort. 

  • Support meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients. Cooking from scratch is an essential part of the role. 

  • Administer medication as prescribed and monitor health conditions. 

  • Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation. 

  • Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients. 

  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties. 

  • Document care provided and report any changes in client condition to appropriate personnel. 

  • Assist with behavior management for clients with special needs or cognitive impairments such as Alzheimer's or dementia. 

  • Work an average of 10 hours contact time per day, with a 2-hour uninterrupted break. 

  • Work a general work pattern of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off. 

Qualifications 

  • Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as senior care, hospice care, or nursing is preferred. 

  • Knowledge of first aid practices and emergency response procedures. 

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. 

  • A valid driving license is advantageous for providing transportation as needed, but not essential. 

  • Certification in caregiving or relevant training in areas such as Alzheimer’s care or dementia care is a plus. 

  • A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others is essential. 

  • A general work pattern of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.

Permanent role - Full time  

 £130 per day, Double on Bank Holidays 

Plus, a £6 daily allowance to use however you wish. e.g. food 

Travel expenses paid up to £50 per placement.

What you’ll be doing as a live-in care assistant: 

As a live-in care assistant, you’ll follow a personalised care plan that enables clients to stay in their own homes. 

Successful candidates will also be required to undergo a DBS check, paid back to you after 50 hours worked, unless you are on the update service.
