Job summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Carer (Health Care Assistant) to provide personal care and support to individuals with physical, emotional, or cognitive impairments in their homes or care settings. The ideal candidate will help clients maintain their independence and dignity by offering assistance with daily living tasks, personal care, and companionship.
Responsibilities
- Personal Care: Assist clients with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and oral care in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Mobility Support: Help clients with ambulation, mobility exercises, and transfers using appropriate aids (e.g. wheelchair, walker, hoist).
- Medication Support: Dispense and administer prescribed medications in accordance with care plans and company policy.
- Meal Preparation: Prepare and serve nutritious meals, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
- Household Assistance: Perform light household chores such as laundry, changing bed linen, washing dishes, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Transportation: Arrange or provide transportation to appointments, shops, or community activities as required.
- Companionship: Provide emotional support, engage clients in conversation, hobbies, and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
- Communication: Liaise with family members, healthcare professionals, and supervisors to discuss client needs, progress, and any concerns.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date care notes, medication records, and incident reports in accordance with company policy.
- Health Monitoring: Observe and report changes in the client’s condition, mood, or behaviour promptly to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Carer, Health Care Assistant, or Support Worker (preferred but not essential; full training can be provided).
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (desirable but not essential).
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and infection control.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable attitude.
Additional Information
- Working Hours: Part Time (18 hrs) to Full Time (40 hrs) per week, shift-based including weekends and evenings.
- Training: Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development provided.
