Part-time Registered Nurse – Clinical Assessor & Competency Trainer (London, £45,000+ DOE + Private Premium Insurance)

We are seeking a skilled and motivated NMC-registered Band 5 Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Assessor & Competency Trainer. This is a rewarding opportunity to shape the quality of complex care packages, train frontline staff, and ensure clinical safety for clients in the community. You will be working within your professional scope and under the oversight of our Nursing Lead, providing assurance that governance, safety and CQC standards are consistently achieved.

In this role you will:

  • Complete pre-admission and review clinical assessments, care plans and risk assessments for clients with complex nursing needs.
  • Train and mentor support workers, oversee supervised practice, and sign off competencies within your verified scope (dual sign-off with the Nursing Lead where required).
  • Liaise with families, coordinators, GPs, community teams and ICB/CHC commissioners to ensure safe, person-centred care.
  • Support medicines safety, contribute to incident reviews, and participate in audits and safeguarding activities.

You must be confident to sign off competencies in the following key areas:

  • Enteral feeding – gastrostomy (PEG), jejunostomy (JEJ), NG/NJ tube management
  • Suctioning – oral, nasal and tracheal where required
  • Invasive & non-invasive respiratory management, including CPAP and BiPAP
  • Emergency seizure management – buccal midazolam administration
  • Anaphylaxis management – adrenaline auto-injector (EpiPen)
  • Oxygen administration (set-up, titration within care plan)
  • Observing vital signs – pulse oximetry and blood pressure

Desirable: Teaching/assessor qualification (Level 3 Award in Education & Training or equivalent), competence in tracheostomy/ventilation, safeguarding Level 3, and experience in CQC-regulated services or ICB/CHC commissioned packages.
