Meet the Team (5)
As the Owner and CEO of Special People Ltd, I lead a dedicated organisation committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care across London and the surrounding areas. With a strong foundation built over nearly 30 years, Special People has grown into a trusted care provider known for reliability, compliance, and genuine compassion.
Since stepping into this leadership role, I’ve focused on continuing the legacy and values established by our founder, Julie Skinner, who led with heart, resilience, and vision. Today, I’m proud to carry that legacy forward, enhancing services, streamlining operations, and building a future-ready organisation capable of adapting to the evolving needs of clients, commissioners, and the wider community.
Our mission is to provide tailored support to children, young adults, and elderly individuals with additional needs, learning disabilities, complex health needs, and social challenges. We do this by investing in our people, maintaining full regulatory compliance, and building strong, long-term partnerships with local authorities, NHS bodies, and private clients.
As a leader, I’m passionate about:
- Strengthening systems for growth and sustainability
- Driving quality improvement and accountability
- Ensuring fair pay and ethical practices across the workforce
- Expanding access to innovative and holistic care
I’m always open to connecting with like-minded professionals, care commissioners, partners, and innovators who share a vision for better health and social care services in the UK.
I’m Angelique, the Safeguarding Lead and Placement & Care Coordinator, and I’ve proudly been part of Special People since 2012.
Over the years, I’ve helped shape our safeguarding culture and have remained deeply committed to ensuring every individual we support is safe, respected, and given the right opportunities to thrive. My role includes overseeing safeguarding policies, providing guidance and training to staff, and making sure our team is confident in identifying and responding to concerns.
I also coordinate specialist care placements, working closely with families, social workers, and professionals to match each person with the most suitable carers and environments. By understanding each client’s unique needs, preferences, and goals, I help create personalised, safe, and positive care experiences.
Whether I’m reviewing care plans, following up on safeguarding queries, or supporting families through complex decisions, my focus is always on protection, well-being, and consistent high-quality care, ensuring every client and family feels supported throughout their journey with us.
I am the IT Support and Financial Assistant at Special People.
In my role, I ensure that our workers have a smooth and reliable operational system in place and that they remain compliant across all of our platforms and processes. I support both internal teams and frontline workers by resolving technical issues, maintaining system accessibility, and assisting with financial administration where required. I am committed to helping the team deliver high-quality, efficient support services.
I have been working in the social care sector since 2007, joining Special People Ltd in 2011 as a Support Worker and progressing to the role of Risk Assessor and Supervisor in 2018. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience across all aspects of care delivery, from frontline support to booking coordination, supervision, and care planning.
I am passionate about providing person-centred care and embedding the values of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) into practice. My focus is on ensuring that Special People delivers safe, bespoke, and dignified care tailored to each client’s needs.
• Behavioural management and humanistic counselling
• Serving as Special People’s Moving and Handling Trainer
• Designing and implementing risk assessments and care plans
• Supporting staff development and supervision
• Advocating for multi-agency collaboration to place clients at the centre of care delivery
I strongly believe that effective care is achieved through teamwork, respect, and a commitment to empowering individuals.
My goal is always to uphold safety, autonomy, and quality in every aspect of support.
I am a Placement Coordinator at Special People, and my role is focused on ensuring clients receive personalised, high-quality care.
I work closely with families, our risk/clinical assessor team, and social workers to understand individual needs and arrange schedules that provide respite for families while promoting independence for clients. I carefully match support workers with clients to foster positive, engaging relationships.
My goal is to make clients and their families feel supported and valued in their day-to-day lives by organising care that is tailored to their unique needs and requirements.
