Job Purpose:
To provide high-quality personal and practical care to individuals in their own homes, enabling them to live independently and with dignity. This role involves assisting clients with daily tasks, personal care, medication administration, and offering emotional support, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care:
• Assist clients with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help with mobility, transferring, and positioning using appropriate techniques and equipment.
• Provide assistance with continence care and changing bed linens.
2. Daily Living Support:
• Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition and hydration.
• Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying.
• Assist with shopping, errands, and other household tasks as needed.
3. Medication Support:
• Administer or assist clients with prescribed medication according to care plans.
• Ensure proper documentation of medication administration and report any concerns.
4. Emotional and Social Support:
• Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities.
• Offer emotional support to clients, helping them maintain mental well-being.
• Accompany clients to appointments, social events, or outings when required.
5. Care Planning and Reporting:
• Follow individualized care plans to meet clients’ specific needs.
• Monitor and report any changes in the client’s condition or behaviour to the care manager.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided.
6. Health and Safety:
• Ensure a safe environment for clients by following health and safety guidelines.
• Use appropriate equipment and manual handling techniques to prevent injuries.
• Respond to emergencies and provide first aid if necessary.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Essential:
• Previous experience in a care role (preferred but not essential as full training will be provided).
• Basic understanding of personal care and hygiene standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassionate, patient, and respectful attitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel between client homes (driver’s license may be required).
• Desirable:
• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Full Driving Licence
Working Conditions:
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.
• Travel between client homes (mileage or travel allowance may be provided).
• Physical demands include lifting, assisting with mobility, and prolonged standing.
