Job summary

To provide person-centred, compassionate care and practical support to individuals living in their own homes, enabling them to maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. The role involves assisting with personal care, daily living tasks, mobility, and social support in line with individual care plans.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care

  • Assist clients with washing, bathing, dressing, and grooming.

  • Support with continence care and toileting needs.

  • Help with safe moving and handling, including hoists and mobility aids.

Medication & Health Support

  • Prompt or administer medication in line with company policy and training.

  • Monitor and report changes in health, wellbeing, or behaviour.

  • Support with prescribed exercises or rehabilitative activities as directed.

Practical Support

  • Prepare meals and assist with eating and drinking.

  • Support with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping.

  • Assist clients with managing appointments and community activities.

Emotional & Social Support

  • Provide companionship and encourage meaningful activities.

  • Promote independence, choice, and dignity in all aspects of care.

  • Support clients to maintain social connections and access community resources.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Follow all care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Maintain accurate records of care delivered using digital system.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, and health professionals.

  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.

  • Attend mandatory training, supervision, and team meetings.

Skills & Qualities

  • Compassionate, patient, and committed to person-centred care.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs.

  • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.

  • Basic understanding of health and safety, infection control, and safeguarding (training provided).

Requirements

  • Experience in care is desirable but not essential (full training available).

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends.

  • Ability to travel between clients (driving licence and vehicle often preferred).

  • Enhanced DBS check required.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Care Certificate, NVQ/QCF Level 2/3) desirable but not mandatory.
