Job summary

The role of Senior Carer/ Team Leader is to carry out duties and tasks to facilitate service users to live and supported/cared at home in a safe secure and comfortable way. To assist with general administrative duties.

Main Responsibilities

  • Working with the Registered Manager, you will be required to conduct robust risk assessments for new or old service users.
  • Development, maintenance and implementation of individuals’ person-centred care/support plans.
  • Type up care/support plans and upload them on Care Management Software/Mobizio.
  • Encouraging service users to take an active role in all aspects of their daily living and promote independence.
  • Work
  • Assist/Support service users to complete all aspects of personal care, appointments, medication, maintaining their home, food preparation, feeding, and collecting medication.
  • To conduct competence checks on care staff such as manual handling, communication and medication competences.
  • Induct, guide and shadow new staff in the community/field/house and ensure all good practices are being followed.
  • Distribute PPE to care staff and in client houses as required.
  • To participate in reviews and updating support plans when there are any changes.
  • Arranging, and conducting supervisions and appraisals for care workers as and when required.
  • To listen to carers’ concerns and be able to resolve them effectively in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
  • To conduct all necessary audits whenever required by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Attending, participating and contributing to various meetings for the people that we care for and your team.
  • Undertaking all training (including statutory) relevant to the needs of the service and the people you care for and according to relevant legislation, in order to professionally develop and gain skills beneficial to the individuals.
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures applicable to the service and the company are followed and understood in order to comply with regulations and good practice.
  • To understand and follow hazard, accident and safeguarding reporting procedures.
  • Be alert to any changes in service users’ condition and circumstances and act appropriately when these changes are identified.
  • Cover calls or shortfall whenever required by the business needs.
  • To take part in the on call on rota basis (emergency out of hours service) and ensure all emergency on-call issues are dealt with effectively e.g. covering calls either directly or indirectly when support/care workers are sick and will be paid at support worker rate. You will be required to take part at least one day a week and one weekend a month

The Supervisor is a role which requires someone who is efficient, organised to offer highest standards to service users and ensure needs are being met at all times. This role requires someone who offers the personal flexible approach by adopting a person-centered approach that fosters awareness, personal growth and gives each Service User the strongest voice with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices. The post holder will be willing to learn and embrace new way ways of working.

Skills / Qualifications:

  • English Level 2 written and oral
  • Atleast 6 months Experience
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care is an Added Advantage
  • Supervisory and team leading skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative – self-starter
  • able to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
