Job summary
Job Title: Home Care Worker
Responsible for: Delivering high quality care to Service Users in their own homes, working within parameters set by Blossom Home Care Peterborough and in accordance with Policies and Procedures.
Responsible to: Registered manager/Deputy manager/Supervisor
A Home carer’s responsibility is to support and provide care to clients in their own homes, with all aspects of living. In accordance to best practices, following Blossom Home Cares policy and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements, relevant regulations under the direction of the manager. Providing care and support to clients may be done on a loan working basis or with other colleagues. Compassion, good communication skills, being reliable and time conscious is essential to maintain high standards of care and promote a positive image of Blossom Home Care Peterborough.
Maintain care skills at a current level; undertake additional training and development from time to time in order to maintain that currency of practice. Sign up to ‘The Social Care Commitment’.

As a Domiciliary Home Care Worker, your primary responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care and support to clients in their own homes.
- Assisting with mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment.
- Supporting clients with meal preparation and nutrition.
- Helping with light domestic tasks and laundry.
- Administering or prompting medication in accordance with care plans.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Accurately recording and reporting any changes in a client’s condition.
- Work in a different location with 4 weeks notice from the company

Here is an detailed description of the training requirements and expectations for our home care workers. To ensure the highest standard of support for our clients, all staff members are required to complete the following:
Mandatory Training and Certification
- Induction Training: Completion of the Introduction to Blossom Home care, and our care certificate to establish a foundation in care standards.
- Health and Safety: Training in moving and handling, infection control, and fire safety.
- First Aid: Basic life support and emergency first aid certification.
- Safeguarding: Training on safeguarding adults and children to recognise and report any signs of abuse or neglect.
- Additional E learning course for further knowledge
Role-Specific Skills
- Specialised Care: Training for specific conditions such as [Dementia/Diabetes/Palliative Care] as required by the clients
Delivering Care to Clients:
- Provide high-quality personal care and support to clients according to their individual care plans.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including meal preparation, medication reminders, and light housekeeping.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of our clients.
- Monitor and report any changes in a client's health or wellbeing to the [Supervisor/Manager].
- Maintain accurate and timely records of care provided.
- Ensure all care is delivered with dignity, respect, and in accordance with company policies and healthcare regulations.
Recording and reporting:
·Maintain accurate records- record all care and support provided to clients in clients folder. Also contact with relatives and other healthcare professionals.
·Keep all information about service users and their relatives confidential and secure.
·Utilise the ‘Care App’ software to leave summary of visits for service users and relatives, as a feedback tool to increase communication.
·Report to the deputy or registered manager any faulty equipment, accidents, incidents, emergencies and hazards in the home.
·Report to the registered/Deputy manager any changes in client’s condition or any other concerns.
·Dealing directly with compliments and complaints and knowing how to handle them and record them.
·Other matters that may arise and may need recording or reporting as required by Blossom Home Care Peterborough procedures.
·Contact the Franchise Director of Blossom Home Care Peterborough for matters that may arise of which the registered manager will be unable to handle.
Ongoing Professional Development
- Refresher Courses: Regular updates on health and safety and safeguarding protocols. And refreshing Training Annually
- Supervision: Participation in scheduled [Monthly/Quarterly] performance reviews and shadow shifts.

Qualifications Required:
NVQ/ QCF Level 2 Diploma or higher in adult social care or equivalent experience and willingness to learn
Previous Experience of being a Home Care worker
Working Hours: Flexible Hours.
