Job summary

Prestige Nursing & Care East Lancashire are looking to recruit an organised, reliable and detail-focused Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance function within our growing business.

This is a varied and important role, suited to someone with previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts assistant position who is confident managing core finance administration, maintaining accurate records, and supporting wider office operations where needed.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to ensure our financial processes run smoothly, supporting a busy and developing organisation with a broad range of bookkeeping, ledger, claims and administrative responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing bookkeeping support using Xero
  • Using our bespoke software to upload invoices
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations
  • Supporting purchase and sales ledger processes
  • Chasing outstanding debtors
  • Preparing and sending payroll information to our payroll bureau
  • Preparing and submitting claims to Local Authorities and ICBs via online portals
  • Supporting month-end finance processes
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Assisting with general finance administration
  • Providing ad hoc administrative and office management support where required

About You:

We are looking for someone who is proactive, dependable and highly organised, with a strong eye for detail and the ability to manage a varied workload effectively.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounts assistant role
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • A self-motivated and reliable approach
  • Confidence in dealing directly with clients and building positive working relationships
  • Experience using Xero or similar accounting software
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel
