In launching the Exeter and East Devon office of Home Instead Senior Care, husband and wife team, Mark and Vanessa McGlade are realising their lifetime ambition of working together. Home Instead is an award winning company providing quality, non-medical care services for older people of the local community, allowing them to remain in the comfort of their own homes. What’s more, they are returning to Vanessa’s family roots, to the town of Budleigh Salterton, and are delighted to be offering the prospect of over 50 new jobs for people in the local area who would like to work as a Caregiver supporting in their local community.

The couple first met whilst Mark was serving as a Naval Officer at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. After they were married he pursued a career in the Aerospace and Defence industry with the General Electric Company and Marconi, living in America for 14 years. Mark has significant international senior management experience developing ground breaking technologies and services in the aerospace and healthcare sectors and two years ago completed an Executive MBA degree at the University of Surrey. He now feels the time is right to work alongside Vanessa to establish their own business helping people in the local community, with a focus on quality care. Vanessa is relishing the opportunity to build the Home Instead service in East Devon with Mark. She has thoroughly enjoyed combining her role of looking after the couple’s two children together with taking part in community based voluntary work. She has considerable fundraising experience, has chaired large American PTA groups and organised community support work including meals on wheels and currently volunteers for the Samaritans. With their two children now at University, Vanessa explains that together the couple want to build a community based service founded on their own personal values: “We are committed to providing our clients with the same level of care as we would want for our own loved ones. We have lost two members of our family to cancer whilst living abroad and we know how difficult it is to find suitable care for elderly or ill relatives.” Mark adds: “There is a need for high quality, personalised care and we believe that the ethos of Home Instead delivers such a service. To us, that means well trained, caring and motivated staff, who take the time to build a trusting relationship with our clients.” Mark continues: “I am really looking forward to bringing high quality personalised senior care to Exeter and East Devon whilst creating sustainable employment for over 50 local employees. We already have people waiting for caregivers and the Home Instead service in the local area so we are keen to hear from compassionate people who would like to join our company. We offer top quality, extensive training to caring and dependable individuals to whom we offer a highly competitive remuneration package in a friendly, professional and caring environment.” Home Instead is an innovative company which is changing the way care is delivered in the UK. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is totally flexible to meet client needs and is available from as little as 1 hour to 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
