Dimensions welcomes the Government’s decision to keep the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance.
As a leading support provider for people with learning disabilities and people with autism we recognise the negative impact the removal of this part of the DLA would have on the people we support.
Being able to get out into the community is something that many people take for granted but its importance in helping to maintain relationships and friendships, hold down a job or access education or support facilities should never be underestimated.
The removal of the mobility allowance would have had a particular impact on the 2500+ people we support across the country in accessing their community and therefore achieving their full potential.
The continuation of this funding is welcomed by Dimensions and the people supported by Dimensions.
