Alzheimer's Society appoints new director of external affairs

The Alzheimer’s Society has appointed a new director of external affairs.

Alison Cook, previously a director at leading consultancy MHP Health Mandate, has taken up the role, replacing Andrew Chidgey who left in May.

She said: “It has taken a huge amount of effort from Alzheimer’s Society, and others, to put at the top of the political agenda; not only for people with the condition but for our society and economy. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to work with the team to make sure that we continue to capitalise on political and public spotlight at much as we can.

“I look forward to playing my part in making sure that the Alzheimer’s Society is demanding and facilitating new research and better services on behalf of all those who rely on us.”

Jeremy Hughes, chief executive of the charity, said: “Alison joins us as dementia is increasingly recognised as one of the greatest health challenges we face. I am delighted she is bringing her wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Alzheimer’s Society. She will help ensure that we live up to our pledge to transform the lives of people affected by dementia.”
