Kathy Markwick, Home Instead's Community Development Officer for Sheffield recently attended an Annual Christmas Lunch at No. 10 Downing Street, as David Cameron’s guest.
Kathy, who is also a member of the Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club, received a warm welcome from the London Welsh Choir, along with 50 other guests, before being treated to the Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings in the State Dining Room and a surprise performance from the finalists of Strictly Come Dancing 2015. Kathy was asked to take four elderly guests and was also joined by her friend, fellow Rotarian and one of Home Instead's very own CAREGivers, Teresa.
The No. 10 Annual Christmas Lunch aimed to celebrate those who campaign for support and awareness of loneliness in the community, an issue David Cameron aims to raise whilst highlighting the fantastic achievements made in the North of England already.
The Prime Minister gave a special mention to Kathy in his speech to the group, praising her work that encourages older people in the community to come together and referred in particular to the WOW Directory.
Well Done Kathy – very well deserved!
