31-May-16

The British Championships | Alexander Stadium – Birmingham | 24-26 June 2016

The best of Britain will descend on Birmingham from 24-26 June as they compete for the prestigious honour of being crowned British champion as well as a place on the British Athletics team for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Fairway hopeful Andy Robertson from Bath will be taking part this weekend in Birmingham and the rest of the Fairway team will be cheering him on!

Andy has already competed in the World Indoor Championships in Portland, Oregon in March where he made the semi-finals and finished 11th in the world overall at 60m. Andy said, “I would have liked to have made the finals and I ran the second fastest time I have ever run but it wasn’t enough unfortunately. It was a fantastic experience and made me a better athlete.”

Andy then had five weeks warm weather training in Orlando Florida and returned to the UK at the end of April. Since then he has had six races (two in France), and he is currently ranked 9th in the country at 100m and 1st over 150m. Andy said, “It’s all about peaking for the UK Championships and Olympic trials in Birmingham. I would like to thank everyone at Fairway Homecare for all there help so far it really makes a difference. I have actually bought some new running spikes with the May payment as my old pair were well past their sell by date.”

All the Fairway team are looking forward to this weekend to support Andy and they all wish him the best.
