People who receive care in their own home have played a big part in deciding which staff should win a local company’s annual care awards.
Management at Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) used testimonials provided by clients as part of the process to decide who should receive an award this year.
The employee of the year award went to Jo Cairnes, a 40-year-old field care supervisor who lives in Skelton.
Jo’s manager, Michelle Tart said: “Jo has been with us for four years and only reluctantly agreed to become a supervisor because she enjoyed her care work so much and thought she would miss her customers.
“She is still loved still by all customers, who she makes a huge effort to see as regularly as possible, and is extremely supportive with her carers, some of which would be lost without her.
"Jo’s customer files are the best I have seen and to me this is essential and shows she has such pride in her work. Her to do list is always up to date and she has a nervous breakdown if anything is outstanding. She has excellent self-motivation and is always on the go when she is on shift.
“Her knowledge and completion of paperwork is second to none and this is why I always ask her to support me with implementing new supervisors into the team.
"We all love her for who she is, genuine, caring, kind, lovable, reliable, motivated, dedicated, passionate - the list is just endless.”
Jo said: “I love what I do so even though I didn’t expect to win anything, it’s so nice to be recognised like this.”

Michelle added: “This is the third year we have held the awards and were the hardest to choose yet, with so many of our team deserving recognition.
“We would like to thank our clients, and their families, for providing such lovely feedback for those they felt should win an award.”
