Business of the Week - Candour Care Group!

A family agency has been shortlisted for an award.

Candour Care Group, based in Newton-le-Willows, has been recognised for its services in the community as it secures a place in the shortlist for Family Business of the Year Award 2023.

Paul and Ashley Serrio launched the family-run business in August 2019 after quitting their jobs to form a homecare agency.

Shortly after setting up the agency, the couple found themselves working the frontline in the care sector as the pandemic hit.

Discussing launching the agency shortly before the initial Covid-19 outbreak, Paul, a former teacher, said: "As we set up, covid happened, so all the face-to-face training stopped completely.

"We were sat here wondering how we could put what I do and what Ashley does together so that we could do something positive.

"We just thought let’s dive in and do it. It’s mad now, looking back, that we did that during the first wave of the pandemic."

Paul's wife Ashley, who previously worked in domestic support, added: "The need for it was massive; we spoke to a few people we knew and they told us to go for it, then the pandemic hit.

"It was really difficult."

Candour Care Group has employed 82 carers since it launched and is currently supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of 47 clients aged between 18-90.
