We’re absolutely thrilled to share that Comfort Care At Home has been rated ‘Outstanding’ following our recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) — the independent regulator of health and social care services in England.
This is a huge achievement, and we’re incredibly proud of our team for their dedication, compassion and commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
What is the Care Quality Commission and what does it do? The CQC is an independent regulator of health and social care services in England. It’s responsible for monitoring, inspecting and regulating care services to ensure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety. They inspect care homes, GP surgeries, hospitals and domiciliary (home care) providers.
What are the CQC ratings? After the CQC inspects a provider, it will award one of the following ratings for its service(s).
• Outstanding — The service is performing exceptionally well. • Good — The service is performing well and meeting CQC expectations. • Requires Improvement — The service is not performing as well as it should, and CQC has told the service how it must improve. • Inadequate — The service is performing badly, and the CQC has taken action against the person or organisation that runs it.
Only around 2% of all care providers in England are awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating — making this a very special accomplishment.
Why are CQC inspections important? CQC inspections are thorough and detailed, looking at every aspect of how care is provided. They focus on five key areas, asking if a service is: • Safe — that staff and care-users are protected from abuse and avoidable harm. • Effective — that people’s care, treatment and support achieves good outcomes and promotes a good quality of life, based on best available evidence. • Caring — that the provider involves people and treats them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. • Responsive — that the provider meets people’s needs. • Well-led — that service leadership, management and governance assures high-quality, person-centred care; supports learning and innovation; and promotes an open, fair culture.
Why Comfort Care At Home was rated ‘Outstanding’ Our latest inspection took place between March and April 2025. We were assessed under the Right support, right care, right culture guidance. This ensures services respect people’s dignity, supports independence and promotes inclusion — especially for individuals with learning disabilities, autism or complex needs.
We received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’, meaning we’re providing a service that is ‘performing exceptionally well’. We were also rated as ‘Outstanding’ in the ‘effective’ and ‘caring’ categories.
The CQC praised our exceptional leadership, which takes a holistic approach to care — supporting not just physical needs but also emotional well-being and community inclusion.
Here are some highlights from the inspection report.
Kind, respectful and personalised care was consistently observed.
Our team showed strong understanding of their roles, received regular training and worked closely with families and healthcare professionals.
People receiving care were fully involved in planning their support and encouraged to stay independent.
Families described the service as “excellent” and “outstanding”. One relative shared: “All staff have the skills and knowledge of supporting my [relative] and have been very supportive with his health and physical needs... helping him with his hygiene, exercises and encouraging him to be as independent as possible.”
Our commitment to excellence At Comfort Care At Home, we support people across the community — including those living with dementia, physical disabilities and complex needs — to live independently and comfortably in their own homes.
Receiving an ‘Outstanding’ rating is more than just a badge of honour. It reflects our core values: putting people first, delivering care with compassion and integrity and always striving to go above and beyond.
