At Willowbrook Homecare, we are always proud to support our employees as they continue to grow and develop in ways that benefit both the people we support and their colleagues. We are pleased to share that Anne Silcox, Care Plan Lead and Trainer, and Aimee Timlin, Field Care Supervisor, have successfully obtained their QNUK Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid (RQF). They are now both certified Mental Health First Aiders at Willowbrook Homecare.
The two-day course, held at Napthens Solicitors, gave Anne and Aimee the opportunity to build their knowledge and confidence around mental health awareness, gaining essential skills to support others and make a real difference.
During the training, they:
-Learned about different mental health diagnoses and their early onset signs -Explored potential triggers and how to recognise crises -Examined a wide range of symptoms to help identify when carers or the people we support may be struggling -Practised conversation techniques to approach sensitive discussions around mental health -Gained a greater understanding of services and support networks, enabling them to signpost effectively when needed
This training has provided Anne and Aimee with valuable skills that will further strengthen the support we provide across Willowbrook Homecare. They are now even more equipped to check in with colleagues, recognise early signs of difficulty, and offer guidance where it is most needed.
The knowledge gained will also enhance the support we offer to the people we care for, ensuring that anyone experiencing mental health challenges can be directed to the right services and receive the help they need.
We are extremely proud of Anne and Aimee for achieving this qualification. Their commitment reflects our values of kindness, compassion, and respect, and reinforces our dedication to supporting both our team and the people we care for in a holistic, person-centred way.
