Making its Merseyside debut, Belong at Home has arrived in Southport, marking the arrival of award-winning home care for older people from not-for-profit dementia specialist, Belong.

Operating from new premises on Eastbank Street, the expansion is set to create over 200 jobs in the area over the next 12 months as the organisation prepares to open its care village, Belong Birkdale, this year.

For now, dedicated support workers are supporting people in homes throughout the area, providing one-to-one personal care, housekeeping and food preparation, as well as running errands, helping with excursions and offering companionship.

The renowned service has already assisted hundreds of families at its other eight locations across the region and is the only non-profit home care group to feature in the UK’s top 20 every year since 2018, as judged by customers on leading reviews website, Homecare.co.uk.

Its success is down to the rigorous training of its teams, resulting in the highest standards of care, professionalism and dementia expertise. Testimonials also laud friendliness, flexibility, and the continuity of staff.

The Southport team is headed up by longstanding senior carer, Debbie Moore. With over a decade of experience, her dedication has been recognised with nominations at the Great British Care Awards, as well as being part of the team scooping The Above & Beyond Community Team accolade at the Stars of Social Care – Home Care Awards 2023.

Andrew Shield, head of operations at Belong at Home, commented: “We are excited to bring our community care service to the people of Southport. Our goal is to help our customers enjoy later life by supporting them to live as independently as possible. And, once Belong Birkdale opens, customers and their families will be able to take advantage of the full range of amenities and services available.”

Later in 2026 will see the opening of Belong Birkdale, the operator’s first state-of-art care village in the county. Set to be home to over 100 people, customers will be able to choose between 24-hour residential care, with nursing support available, or buy or rent one of 30 one and two-bedroom independent living apartments. Belong’s specialist day care service, Experience Days, will also be available.

The Oxford Road village will be a welcome addition to the community, with a vibrant centre open to local people, including a bistro, hair and beauty salon, exercise studio, and entertainment venue with licensed bar. It will be the ninth site in the group’s portfolio, adding to its established locations across the North West and West Midlands.

Andrew continued: “The Belong at Home team is proud to do the job we do and as we already have high demand for our service, we are keen to talk with those interested in working with us about jobs, training and career opportunities.”
