The Spirit of Care Award is chosen by the judges from all the finalists at the National Wales Care Awards, and presented to an individual with that "special something" - that extra ingredient that embodies excellence in social care.

Caregiver Samantha Broom, from our Cardiff office won the award for her delivery of specialised dementia support for a client with Alzheimer's. In commending Sammy, the client's daughter said:

"It is refreshing to see a carer like Sammy not only doing her job, but offering that X-factor which makes her stand out so memorably. My father is physically fit and has a strong sense of intuition about people, despite his progressing Alzheimer's disease. There is no doubt that our father's quality of life is greatly enhanced by such a fantastic carer whom my father refers to as a colleague - the highest accolade as my father used to be a university lecturer"
