Home Instead Senior Care Richmond has been officially accredited as a Living Wage employer.
This means that, as of 1st April, our sixty five caregivers are now paid what the Living Wage Foundation recommends is a fair living wage for London.
The Real Living Wage is higher than the national living wage, which also came into force in April at the new legal minimum set by the Government.
The London Living Wage is calculated based on the cost of a basket of goods and is set at a higher rate than for the rest of the UK.
Mike Jefferies, director of Home Instead Richmond, said, “This is a milestone moment that represents a firm commitment from us, as a company, to pay the wonderful people that work for us a decent, living wage.
“Every day our CAREGivers make an amazing contribution to the lives of their clients. This was recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) last year, when we received the highest possible rating of ‘outstanding’ for the care we provide. We feel it is also important that we recognise their fantastic work through paying fair pay as well.”
Home Instead Senior Care distinguishes itself by championing its staff, providing them with full and on-going training and support, Mike sees being a CAREGiver as ‘meaningful and rewarding, not menial’. “For too long, a career as a carer has been low paid and low status.
We at Home Instead are working hard to change the face of aging by being the most compassionate, most professional and best paid home care company a carer could wish to work for.”
Mike continued, “We are currently looking to recruit 50 new caregivers, our commitment to becoming a London Living Wage employer will enable us to continue to attract and retain the best and most motivated people.”
The Living Wage Foundation celebrates and recognises the leadership of responsible employers who choose to go beyond requirements and pay a Real Living Wage, based on the cost of living rather than on the government minimum.
The best employers are voluntarily signing up to pay the Living Wage which sees them investing not only in their employees but in the future of their companies.
Home Instead has an unparalleled reputation for providing tailored and personalised home care for older people in Richmond and surrounding areas, enabling them to live independently in their own homes.
