I have tried on a number of occasions to reach the complainant by phone to apologise for her expectations not being met. The complainant was attending hospital and her husband had accompanied her and wanted to go home but didn't want to be alone. The hospital called a number of providers late in the evening looking for assistance. We were able to commission someone to be with the gentleman overnight and they arrived at 9.30pm. Thus we fulfilled the request of the hospital for what was a non-regulated activity which enabled the gentleman to return home with company.. It is now apparent that the complainant was seeking a regulated activity and had that been made clear in the first call we would not have been able to assist at all which would have led to the gentleman remaining at the hospital or being home alone.
The Value for Money rating is puzzling as no money has been paid as no charge was raised. The assistance was provided free of charge
Thank you, Betty, for taking the time and effort to submit a review. We are pleased to hear that Portfolio's staff are taking good care of your brother. Such feedback is very encouraging for the carers who undertake vitally important tasks, sometimes at unsociable hours and frequently in difficult circumstances.
Thank you C for your comments on the care you receive from Portfolio and we will pass them on to the carers who attend you. It is a privilege to be able to contribute to your recovery.
Thank you Stephanie for the kind words regarding the care provided by Portfolio Homecare. It isn't always easy to get it right all the time so I am pleased that when things aren't as they should be our staff resolves matters quickly.
The office staff are always helpful and understanding and the carers are brilliant. I have absolutely no reservations in recommending Portfolio to anyone
Thank you.
With COVID-19 being about it was important to us for the carers to either take their shoes off or wear coverings, especially when we were told that in some of the homes they go to they may be treading in urine or excrement. The director of the company would not agree to his staff wearing shoe coverings, he said they could slip and he would not agree to them taking their shoes off due to what they may have trod in earlier. We parted company with Portfolio Care.
We are able to speak up for ourselves but what about clients who are not able to?
