Reliable and trustworthy staff.
Flexible for bank holidays.
Always send a good substitute if the regular staff is indisposed.
Invoicing always correct.

My wife, who has Alzheimer's, has been looked after for 3 years now by Helping Hands. The care provided has been excellent. A regular team of about 6 carers have, more or less, become part of the family. Always on time (the odd previous overrun excepted), smart, courteous and friendly. If time permits, we have a chat, and I can see that they are looking out for me too.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we really do appreciate it. We are delighted to hear that your wife has been supported by Helping Hands for the past three years and that the care provided has been of such a high standard. It is especially lovely to read that a...
Whilst Mam is happy with the team, it may benefit the less experienced carers who have not had the opportunity of dealing with this mixed condition to have more training.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
We are pleased to hear that you find our carers to be friendly and approachable, and that the experienced members of the team are working well with your mother, Joan. We understand how complex and challenging it can...

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are pleased to hear that our staff have been pleasant, reliable, and supportive in meeting Janet's needs. Providing timely and attentive care is very important to us, and we are glad that this has been reflected in your experience....
My mum is very happy with the services and carers you provide. Understanding her needs is important to myself and my brother.
We have peace of mind while not around knowing she is cared for and bathed
The lady who came to the review meeting was friendly polite and she listened to what I said and answered my questions alongside the questions she asked me. Everyone who I come in contact with in this company all have the same qualities and treat me with dignity as well.
I approached Helping Hands Home Care to provide an hour's care for my 85-year-old father in getting up in the morning, prior to my arrival later on to continue his care. The staff visited us at home to fully understand dad's needs as well as his usual morning routine, and to enable them to match carers to him.
In the few months since they began coming the carers have always arrived at the agreed time and have been kind and respectful to my dad. He suffers from advanced Parkinson's and does most things very slowly, but his carers always show patience and understanding. They give him his morning pills and breakfast; assist with his personal care, getting dressed and moving around the house; and they always leave him comfortable in his chair with a cuppa. We have both been delighted at the care he is receiving. Although Helping Hands may appear costly, our experience is that the professionalism, reliability and kindness of carers and office staff make them worth every penny. My dad and I would happily recommend them.
My mother-in-law has been receiving care from Helping Hands for over a year, which includes twice-daily visits as well as support with day trips, medical appointments, and more. They have been absolutely fantastic.
She has been assigned an exceptional regular carer who has built a strong, trusting relationship with her, making it much easier for her to accept the increasing levels of assistance with washing, personal care, and other needs.
The management team is highly responsive, always quick to address any last-minute requirements, and they consistently keep me and my wife informed about anything we need to know.
We also appreciate their online portal, where we can access up-to-date visit notes and information. This has been invaluable since my wife, who is severely disabled, and I have had to organize all of her mum's care from the other end of the country.
We highly recommend Helping Hands for their professional, compassionate, and reliable care.
Since using your company to assist myself in looking after my husband all I can say is well done to your staff and yourself. The change in my husbands and my mental health has improved only for the better.
Helping Hands has changed everything and dug our family out of a huge rut! I'm bed-bound with severe systemic illness. My husband now has to help care for me, the home and kids (including a baby). This has been too much for my husband (who had a stroke himself) and he's utterly defeated by it. Our house became a real mess with every surface covered, dishes piled up and rooms we can't get into because of junk everywhere! But...Helping Hands came to the rescue! They help with everything: cleaning, tidying, washing, dishes, company and even talking my husband through his own tasks. They do it all very well and with such compassion. The administrative team are actually superhumans with a gift for care. They treat us like beloved family and accommodate our wishes so quickly and kindly. I'm almost at the word limit so I'll finish by saying that: thanks to this wonderful team, we have a more happy and comfortable home and we even have hope for the future for the first time in a long while.
My mother is 101 years old and with the help of the Helping Hands team in Darlington she has been able to continue to live in her own home. The team are very professional and caring and my mother always looks forward to their regular visits. These visits consist of administering medication, making meals, supporting with dressing/undressing, and sitting and chatting to give my mother important socialising time. The local coordinator has been very supportive to myself, I've always been notified of any concerns regarding my mother's health or wellbeing and she has always been accommodating in arranging extra care at very short notice. I really can't recommend the team enough and I'm very grateful for their ongoing support.
Thank you ever so much for leaving such a heartfelt review for us! I'm thrilled to hear how pleased you are with our service and it means so much to know that we've been a good match for your mother! It is our absolute pleasure to provide support for your mother and we're so grateful for your feedback! Best wishes.
Friendly, caring and considerate ladies who arrive on time and do an excellent job. They are well supported by an excellent management team. We have recently moved here from 170 miles away and knowing that they would be here to help us, from day one, made the whole experience less stressful for both of us. Well done and we are very grateful.
Thank you so much for leaving such a brilliant review for us! I'm delighted to hear how pleased you are with our service and it's wonderful to know that you consider our carers to be so friendly and caring! Your kind words are very much appreciated - always happy to help! Best wishes.
Helping Hands have addressed the issues this presents with sensitivity and great care and have enabled us as a couple to find a way through.
The carer gives me peace of mind and does a range of very helpful domestic tasks, which eases my load greatly at the same time as being present for my husband’s safety.
We are finding Helping Hands, Darlington to be an extremely warm, friendly, reliable and professional service. My parents have really taken to their carer and it's giving our whole family peace of mind.
Best wishes.
Helping Hands have been providing care for my mam since Spring 2022. They are kind, caring, professional, friendly, responsive and proactive. They make me aware of my mam's changing needs and any concerns they have and have contacted the NHS when required to make sure Mam gets the care she needs, when she needs it. They are also great company for her and always leave her with a smile on her face. They provide a brilliant service. Very pleased with them.
With very best wishes.

I am very impressed with Helping Hands. They are totally on the ball. My dad has dementia and I live about 30 miles away, and Helping Hands are giving me total peace of mind that he is being looked after every day, with all kinds of things including medication, food prompting, health issues. They are excellent and really friendly, fully recommended.
Best wishes

About me
Hi, my name is Annemarie and I’m the Branch Manager for Helping Hands Darlington.
I was raised in the British Army and lived in Germany until I was 11 when as a family we moved to the Northeast of England.
As a Branch Manager, my responsibility is to oversee the overall running of the branch. This includes carer recruitment, carer training, completing assessments for new customers and compliance with all local and national legislation and ensuring I meet the fundamental standards set out by CQC.
Experience and expertise
I have worked in Health and Social care for over 20 years and have over 15 years of management experience. I began my career as a support worker and have worked in many other roles including Home Manager and Regional Manager. My responsibilities have included staff management, compliance, and working with local authorities to mobilise new services.
Over my career, I have been lucky enough to be able to complete numerous qualifications, including NVQ Level 3/4 and Leadership and Management at Level 5.
Why I chose Helping Hands
I joined Helping Hands in February 2021 and the reason I joined is based on their history. I love the fact that the organisation is still family-led. Another of the reasons I joined Helping Hands is that their foundation is based on kindness for customers and staff alike! It is amazing to see how valued our customers and staff are. My goal is to grow and develop the Darlington Helping Hands branch so we can deliver excellent quality of care, supporting people to live independently in their own homes.
