Overall Experience
After a serious fall followed by residential respite care we needed care for our mother.
We are very pleased with the carers that go in each morning, more importantly our mother is. She tells us they’re all so nice to her, and do whatever she asks of them and always make her a cuppa.
They are reliable, consistent in what they do and have a bit of banter with her.
We also have domestic work done every other week. Our mother is very particular about this being done! This is done to a very good standard.
We are pleased that we chose Helping Hands Home Care and know going forward if/when additional help is needed it will be handled as professionally and as well as we could wish.

Many thanks from us to all the team at Helping Hands Darlington.

Annemarie Vendy Job Title: Branch Care Manager
Annemarie Vendy

About me

Hi, my name is Annemarie and I’m the Branch Manager for Helping Hands Darlington.

I was raised in the British Army and lived in Germany until I was 11 when as a family we moved to the Northeast of England.

After a brief stint working abroad, I have spent nearly all my adult life working in Health and Social care; I wouldn’t want to do anything else as there is no other feeling like making a positive difference in a person’s life!

As a Branch Manager, my responsibility is to oversee the overall running of the branch. This includes carer recruitment, carer training, completing assessments for new customers and compliance with all local and national legislation and ensuring I meet the fundamental standards set out by CQC.

Experience and expertise

I have worked in Health and Social care for over 20 years and have over 15 years of management experience. I began my career as a support worker and have worked in many other roles including Home Manager and Regional Manager. My responsibilities have included staff management, compliance, and working with local authorities to mobilise new services.

Over my career, I have been lucky enough to be able to complete numerous qualifications, including NVQ Level 3/4 and Leadership and Management at Level 5.

Why I chose Helping Hands

I joined Helping Hands in February 2021 and the reason I joined is based on their history. I love the fact that the organisation is still family-led. Another of the reasons I joined Helping Hands is that their foundation is based on kindness for customers and staff alike! It is amazing to see how valued our customers and staff are. My goal is to grow and develop the Darlington Helping Hands branch so we can deliver excellent quality of care, supporting people to live independently in their own homes.
