Silver Assist Homecare is a privately owned, family run business supporting the community of Brecon and the surrounding villages. The team care for clients over the age of 18 who have chosen to retain their independence at home with a little help.

Services can include personal care, support with medications, meal preparation, companionship, shopping and some light domestic assistance. Silver Assist knows that every day is different and so are the needs of clients, to that end, they offer a completely bespoke service.

We offer a complimentary initial visit to discuss your needs, and should you wish to proceed with our services, we will complete a full assessment and introduction to our care team free of charge.


We also offer complimentary assistance to complete Attendance Allowance requests for clients and can provide advice on funding your care.

Despite only being involved with Silver Assist for just over a month, all those associated with the company whom we have met, have made us feel very welcome into a new family. As we try to settle into a new lifestyle and routine, the care company manager could not have done more to ease this process,
taking over items of admin, advising and ordering items to make life more comfortable and convenient for my husband and also guiding me to access organisations that may offer various forms of help. Every carer who has visited us has been very polite, showing a genuine respectful interest in caring. They chat with a sense of humour and my husband reacts positively with a smile.

Silver Assist is a very good company. My carer is a very good companion and we have loads of fun. I always look forward to seeing her, she brightens up my day. We always have a good laugh and I like the things we do like going out for walks amongst other things.

Silver Assist has enabled my aunt to return to her own home after a fall which broke her hip. The team of carers that look after her provide daily assistance and companionship. They are professional, punctual and caring. The same team visit my aunt 3 times a day so the continuity is excellent. My aunt
feels looked after but still has her independence and this has allowed her to stay in her own home. The help with medical appointments is really useful as I live so far away. Every visit is logged on the app and communication with me is excellent. I highly recommend Silver Assist.

My mum has had carers from Silver Assist for over six months now, initially just a few hours a week, but this has increased to daily assistance as her needs have become more complex. Staff are incredibly professional but also warm, friendly, so patient and kind. It’s very reassuring that, although my
mum is the client, they also advocate for my dad who is Mum’s full time carer in his mid-seventies.

Mum and Dad have dementia but want to keep their independence. They are very private and have declined having carers for several years. The registered manager came and did an excellent, thorough initial assessment and filled them with confidence. She quickly and accurately picked up on their care needs
and on what was important to them i.e. being able to go out at all times with their dog! She then introduced her two carers to them with two further visits. They have two different carers coming for two hours twice per week. Both carers are lovely, chatty and treat them with respect and listen to what they want to do. Both carers drive, so Mum and Dad love going out with them, and are dog friendly. In all initial meetings and the subsequent care visits, the registered manager and her team have been punctual and professional. They are all approachable, kind and patient. Communication is great via an app, email or phone. They have excellent safeguarding policies and the carers are clearly well trained. I really recommend them.

My Mum who was 90 years old this year and who lives on her own in a supported living complex was finding it hard to cope on a daily basis and primarily needed help at the start of her day. Mainly with showering, washing and dressing in the morning plus help with breakfast. We decided to get some carers
in to help Mum and we had a recommendation from my mum's brother who was already using Silver Assist Homecare. We arranged to meet the manager of the care company and one of the carers that would be coming to Mum, they could check on the facilities in my mum's room and meet my Mum plus discuss with us our requirements. We set up initially 2 evenings per week for a shower after a few visits we reviewed things with the manager and decided to move the visits to each weekday morning this has now been running for about 2 weeks and we are very happy with the service provided and my Mum is delighted, we can see an improvement in her health and well being.

Helpful suggestions made. All staff are very caring and efficient. Consideration was given to Dad's needs. Very thoughtful effort on his birthday. Some staff members are able to speak Welsh and English.

I am impressed and happy with this service. The owner was very approachable, practical, helpful and understanding at initial contact and got back to me immediately. The manager visits to introduce carers to the client and family and also does some of the care shifts. The manager takes a broad overview
of the client, not just physical ailments and needs, but history, culture and background. Awareness of Welsh language and provision is made to communicate with the client in first language. All carers are caring and efficient. Dad is happy. Thank you. Dad says 'very sociable at all times'.

Silver Assist has helped my 99-year-old mother and me by providing the appropriate care she requires to remain in her own home, as she desires.
Initial discussions on her needs were thorough and professional which gave me immediate confidence.
Following visits and introductions, Mum took happily to
her carers - the first she had experienced apart from her family.
With regular reviews of her changing needs, I am able to be assured that Mum is getting the daily care that she needs, morning, noon and bedtime.
The manager has provided useful suggestions about care and safety which we have taken on board and she has been helpful, considerate and a good listener.
Daily reports in the secure app is a real bonus, providing detail of visits and how Mum is. I also like the facility to respond and add comments.
I have no hesitation in recommending Silver Assist, the consideration and kindness shown to mum and flexibility towards her needs have been very reassuring.

Hi, my name is Sam and I started Silver Assist back in 2023 because we recognised there was little to no care available to people living in rural communities, and we believe everyone should have the choice to retain their independence and quality of life in their own home.


I started my career in care 16 years ago and haven't looked back since! Silver Assist was built on a foundation of compassion, professionalism and transparency and this remains one of our priorities as we continue to grow.


We were delighted to be recognised by homecare.co.uk as one of the top care providers in Wales for 2024 and receive an "Outstanding" rating by the CIW in February 2024.
