Meet the Team (6)
My name is Amanda Gaston. I joined CEL Homecare earlier this year (2025) after being a Registered Manager for a residential home for 10 years in the Maryport area, which I loved! I decided to become the Area Manager for CEL after they secured a contract with Cumbria County Council to expand into Maryport and the surrounding areas. I am training for Moving and Handling, and I provide the medication training to the care staff. Within my role, I am responsible for leading a team of competent staff, focusing on people that use the service receive a high-quality service that meets their needs. I have a passion for helping people achieve their best possible level of wellbeing, and to be involved in ensuring that individuals’ independence is maintained and keeping them in their own homes for as long as possible, is something which feels so rewarding. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I dedicated myself extremely to the home, by moving in with the residents to help support both the residents and staff on a daily basis. Cumbria Council (now Cumberland) approached me to help to manage a short-term home in Maryport, as the home was declining during this period. I decided to make a change and expand my managerial experience by becoming an Area Manager for a domiciliary setting, which is proving to be quite different, but amazing at the same time
My name is Dee Stedman, I am the Area Manager of CEL Homecare based in Warwick Bridge, Carlisle and Registered Manager for Maryport. I have over 30 years’ experience within the Health and Social Care sector with a variety of specialities from AE, ITUU, Sick Children and the Elderly. I had a management position in the local Hospital for 14 years and subsequently managed care agencies, improving the quality of service provision. During the recent pandemic, I was in lockdown with my elderly parents. This made me rethink my career, and I decided to dedicate myself to home care as I felt that local services could improve.
My name is Elaine Armstrong, and I am the Registered Manager for CEL Homecare in Carlisle and Consett. I am a compassionate and dedicated manager with over 25 years’ experience in the care sector, being a Registered Manager and safeguarding lead for 18 years. I have managed teams in the Cumberland area since 2012. I have been responsible for the safe growth of start-up contracts with local authorities. Within my role, I am responsible for heading a team of competent staff, focusing on ensuring that people who use the service receive a high-quality service that meets their needs. I have a passion for helping people achieve their best possible level of well-being.
My name is Gail Craig, and I have over 25 years of experience in the healthcare sector. I am currently the Training and Recruitment Officer with CEL Homecare. I work across all branches, ensuring training compliance and safe recruitment practices. Before this role, I was the Care Co-Ordinator for CEL Homecare. I still like to help cover calls as required to support Katy. Before joining CEL Homecare in 2019, I worked for a large domiciliary organisation in many different roles, my favourite being an Assessment Manager. I enjoyed the initial meeting with clients and planning their care to suit their individual needs.
With Elaine, I am one of the founders of CEL Homecare in 2019. I came into Social Care in 2008, having previously worked in Geotechnics and Site Investigation for Civil Engineering projects. This was a massive change of career for me, but I began work in the sector as a Health and Safety advisor and latterly Quality Manager for a regional home care provider. Before helping establish CEL Homecare, I worked with Elaine for a national home care franchise, helping train and develop new home branches and businesses. Elaine and I decided to set up our own home care service to help those areas local often poorly served by existing providers. I now mainly deal with financial, regulatory, and business development aspects (the non-care side in general).
My name is Jules Dillon, and I am the Finance Officer for CEL Homecare. I joined the team in 2024 as a support to Cameron in payroll and invoicing. I am based at the Carlisle office; however, I assist with all branches. I always joke that I enjoy nothing more than a good spreadsheet. I worked for a care company for many years as a Finance Officer before joining CEL, but I felt it was time for a challenge.
