Holgate Family Care is a small, dedicated home care service supporting older people across Saddleworth, Oldham and surrounding areas, including parts of Rochdale and Tameside. The service helps people remain independent in their own homes while receiving the support they need to live safely, comfortably and confidently.
Holgate Family Care takes a personal approach to care, getting to know each individual and understanding their routines, preferences and interests. Support is tailored to the person, with dignity, choice and independence at the heart of the service.
Services include companionship, home help, cleaning, meal preparation, appointment assistance and pet care. Support can include spending time with someone, accompanying them on walks or shopping trips, helping with household tasks, preparing meals, assisting with appointments and helping them continue to care for their pets.
Companionship is an important part of the service, providing meaningful social interaction alongside practical support. The team also helps individuals remain connected to their local community and continue enjoying activities that are important to them.
Meal preparation can be tailored to personal tastes and dietary requirements, while individuals are encouraged to remain involved in choosing and preparing meals wherever possible. Home help can include laundry, shopping, gardening, cleaning and changing bedding.
The team has more than 50 years of combined experience in the care sector. Founded by Laura, Holgate Family Care has developed a relationship-led approach shaped by professional experience and an understanding of the importance of supporting older people with kindness and respect.

Laura and her team came to help me in the morning and evening when I came out of hospital at home as l live alone. We have just changed care provider to this company after some very poor experiences with others. The difference is amazing. Laura and all her staff are totally professional, caring, friendly and respectful towards my mum. Nothing is too much trouble. They stay for the full allocated time and my mum is really happy.
They have brought a more relaxed atmosphere into the house than any of the other companies and I would have no hesitation in recommending Laura and her fantastic staff.

Laura has over 16 years’ experience in health and social care, progressing through roles including Carer, On-Call Supervisor, Field Care Supervisor, Deputy Manager and Registered Manager. This has provided extensive experience in frontline care, service management and the leadership of safe, effective and person-centred services.
Laura holds Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF), alongside a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services (Adults’ Management). Specialist training in End of Life Care, Dementia and Parkinson’s has further developed their ability to support people with complex and changing needs.
Her experience includes developing person-centred care plans and risk assessments, safeguarding, medication management, quality monitoring, auditing and regulatory compliance. Laura also supports staff through supervision, coaching and competency assessments, helping teams to deliver consistently high standards of care.
Laura has successfully led service improvements, including the transition from paper-based to electronic record keeping, ensuring staff were supported and trained throughout the change.
