Health care Assistant

Job summary

Job Purpose:

To provide compassionate, person-centred care and support to residents, assisting with daily living activities, promoting dignity, independence, and wellbeing in line with care home policies and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist residents with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.

• Support residents with eating, drinking, and maintaining adequate nutrition and hydration.

• Monitor and record residents’ health, wellbeing, and behaviour, reporting any concerns to senior staff.

• Provide emotional support, companionship, and engage residents in meaningful activities.

• Assist with medication administration (if trained and in accordance with policies).

• Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.

• Follow individual care plans and contribute to updating them as required.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure residents’ needs are met.

• Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and health & safety procedures.

• Respect residents’ privacy, dignity, and cultural preferences at all times.

Qualifications and Experience (Desirable):

• Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting.

• Basic knowledge of infection control, safeguarding, and manual handling.
