Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Support
Worker to provide high-quality care during overnight shifts. The ideal
candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and
well-being of residents in a care home or assisted living environment.
This role requires a caring attitude, excellent communication skills,
and the ability to handle medical and behavioural needs with
professionalism. The Night Support Worker plays a vital part in
delivering personalised care, supporting residents with their daily
routines, and maintaining a safe environment throughout the night.
Responsibilities
- Monitor residents' health and safety throughout the night, responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns.
- Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and hygiene while respecting residents’ dignity and privacy.
- Administer medication in accordance with prescribed care plans and document all medication-related activities accurately.
- Support residents with meal preparation if required, ensuring nutritional needs are met during overnight hours.
- Manage behaviour effectively, including dementia or Alzheimer's-related behaviours, using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
- Keep detailed records of residents’ conditions, incidents, and care provided during the shift.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and case management.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide emotional support to residents experiencing distress or behavioural challenges during the night.
- Assist with light housekeeping duties as needed to uphold hygiene standards within the care setting.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in nursing home, dementia care, or home care settings is highly desirable.
- Certification in first aid is preferred; ongoing training will be provided where necessary.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures is advantageous.
- Experience in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
- Valid driving licence is an advantage for roles requiring travel between locations or community outings.
