Job Summary

Home Carer / Care Assistant — Croydon & Surrounding Areas

Earn great pay and work in your local community.

Aegys Smart Care is looking for caring, friendly people to join the team as a Home Carer. If you have a genuine desire to help others and make a positive difference, this role offers the chance to support people in their own homes, build real relationships, and grow a meaningful career in care.

No previous experience is required. Full training is provided from day one, and many of the team have built long-term careers in care after starting in exactly this role.

About the role

As a Home Carer, you'll visit clients in their own homes across Croydon and the surrounding area, supporting them with everyday tasks that help them live safely, comfortably and independently. Every visit is different, but the goal is always the same: to make someone's day a little easier, a little safer, and a little brighter.

You'll be part of a small, consistent care team built around each client, so you'll get to know the people you support and they'll get to know you. Continuity matters here — clients see familiar, trusted faces rather than a rotating cast of strangers.

What you'll help with

  • Companionship — being a friendly, familiar face and keeping clients company
  • Personal care — supporting with washing, dressing and grooming with dignity and respect
  • Medication support — collecting prescriptions and providing medication reminders in line with the client's care plan
  • Mealtimes — preparing healthy meals and supporting with hydration
  • Housework — light domestic tasks such as laundry, cleaning and tidying
  • Errands and tasks — shopping and running errands
  • Mobility — helping clients move around their home safely

What you'll need

  • A caring, patient and respectful attitude
  • Willingness to learn and a genuine desire to make a positive difference
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A responsible, dependable and flexible approach to work
  • A driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred but not essential — applicants without one are still welcome to apply, particularly for local patches

All roles are subject to proof of eligibility to work in the UK, satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.

What you'll get

  • Pay: £14.24 per hour on weekdays, £15.00 per hour on weekends
  • Full induction and ongoing training to help you deliver safe, high-quality care with confidence
  • Funded Health & Social Care qualifications to support your development
  • Genuine career progression — many team members started as Home Carers and have gone on to coordination and management roles
  • Ongoing support from a local management team who know your patch and your clients
  • The opportunity to build real, lasting relationships with the people you support
