Bluebird Care – Where you change lives

We’re looking for kind, calm and dedicated Children & Young Person’s Support Workers to join our Care Expert Team across Mid & West Cornwall.

At Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall, our children’s services support children and young people with complex or additional needs to feel safe, understood and cared for — at home and out in their community.

This support is not only meaningful for the child or young person, but also gives families reassurance, consistency and peace of mind.

You’ll provide one-to-one support that may include daily routines, personal care, communication, confidence-building, social activities and accessing the community.

This is a rewarding role for someone who wants to make a real difference to children, young people and their families.

Before applying, please note

You must have the right to work in the UK, a full UK driving licence and access to a reliable car.

We are unable to offer visa sponsorship. If you require sponsorship to work in the UK, your application will not be successful.

What you’ll be doing

As a Children & Young Person’s Support Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting children and young people with complex or additional needs
  • Helping with personal care, daily routines and mealtimes
  • Supporting communication, confidence and independence
  • Attending community outings and social activities
  • Providing calm, consistent and person-centred support
  • Following care plans and keeping clear records
  • Working closely with families and the wider care team
  • Being a dependable and reassuring presence for children, young people and their families

Full training will be provided so you feel confident and supported in the care you deliver.

Hours and working pattern

This role mainly involves evening and weekend support, with some school hours also available.

During school holidays and half terms, children and young people are often at home more, so support hours may increase. We’ll always talk this through with you in advance and plan rotas around availability wherever possible.

What we offer

  • Full induction and ongoing expert training
  • Specialist training and development
  • Blue Light Card
  • Annual appraisal recognition
  • Referral scheme
  • Carer of the Month
  • Staff social activities
  • Team member wellbeing and support
  • Charity and fundraising events
  • Ongoing development and career support

What we’re looking for

For this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience working with children or young people in care, education, health or support settings
  • Confidence supporting with personal care
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable car
  • The right to work in the UK

You’ll be a good fit if you’re kind, patient and calm, with a child-focused approach and a willingness to learn.

Experience supporting children or young people with complex or additional needs is helpful, but not essential — full training will be provided.

Why join Bluebird Care?

If you care deeply, Bluebird Care makes sure you have the training, time and support you need to do what you do best.

This is a meaningful role where you can support children and young people to feel safe, confident and included, while also giving families valuable reassurance and support.
