Job Summary

Home Carer - £15/hr + Paid Travel Time and Mileage, minimum 1-Hour Visits, guaranteed hours, full and part-time roles

At Bronte House, we’re a small, independent homecare provider doing things a little differently.

We believe exceptional care takes time, consistency and genuine connection - especially for people living with dementia.

We are passionate about making a difference to the lives of older people and their families, with a specialist focus on people living with dementia.

We are committed to providing the highest quality care for our clients while creating a positive and supportive environment for our team.

We are looking for kind, reliable carers to join our friendly team supporting people in their own homes across York.

About the Role

As a Care Companion, you'll support older people, including people living with dementia, to live independently and enjoy life in the comfort of their own home. From companionship, preparing meals and personal care to supporting clients to enjoy hobbies, appointments and time in the community, every day is different. Above all, you'll build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference to the lives of the people you support.

This is a community-based care role, where you’ll work independently but always feel part of a supportive team.

What makes this role special:

  • Minimum 1-hour visits - time to care properly
  • Consistent clients - build real relationships
  • A calm, person-centred approach to dementia care

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for people who are not just experienced, but who genuinely care.

  • Previous care experience (preferred)
  • A warm, patient and kind approach
  • Confidence working independently in the community
  • A genuine interest in supporting people living with dementia
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (required)

What We Offer

  • £15 per hour
  • Paid travel time between visits and mileage
  • Guaranteed hours
  • Minimum 1-hour visits
  • Consistent, well-matched clients
  • Paid training and ongoing development
  • A supportive and approachable team

Why Join Bronte House

We’re a small team, and that matters.

You’re not just a number here - we take the time to support you, listen to you, and make sure your work feels manageable and meaningful.

  • A genuinely supportive, kind team culture
  • Thoughtfully planned schedules
  • A focus on quality care, not rushing between visits
  • Opportunities to grow and develop

(Bronte, our therapy dog, is also very much part of our approach to wellbeing!)

Additional Benefits*

  • 1.5x pay on bank holidays
  • Holiday pay, pension and sick pay
  • Free DBS check
  • Blue Light Card
  • Employee referral bonus
  • Wellbeing support & team events
  • Birthday half-day off
