Support Worker – Job Description

Role Purpose To provide person?centred care and support to individuals in their own homes, helping them remain safe, comfortable and independent. Support Workers assist with daily living tasks, personal care, and emotional wellbeing while promoting dignity, choice and respect at all times.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including washing, dressing, toileting and grooming

• Support with meal preparation, hydration and nutrition

• Prompt or assist with medication as required

• Offer companionship, emotional support and reassurance

• Assist with mobility, transfers and safe moving & handling

• Carry out light domestic tasks to maintain a safe home environment

• Record and report any changes in the client’s condition

• Work in line with care plans, policies and safeguarding procedures

• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times

Requirements

• Kind, reliable and compassionate nature

• Good communication skills

• Ability to work independently and follow care plans

• Must drive and have access to a car (for domiciliary care roles)

• Willingness to complete training and ongoing development
